Anderson School students have the option to attend their local career-technical school or participate in the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit’s Transition Services Program. The MCIU’s Transition Services Program offers a number of support activities and opportunities to enhance work exploration/experience opportunities for Anderson students.
During the school year, MCIU transition teachers organize several activities, including a Community Partner’s Day designed to provide Anderson School students with real-world employment skills. Guest panelists discuss their businesses and job expectations. Students are active participants in the question and answer period.
Students also participate in lessons on employment to raise their awareness of what skills make up basic employability skills and employer expectations in all occupations. They participate in a Mock Interview Day where MCIU staff conduct mock interviews and share feedback with students.
